Protect your Ethernet communication
With Teleste’s Secured IP link the cabled Ethernet communication between the remote device and the nearest customer LAN node is kept safe and protected.
The protection is based on several features. The first layer of security is based detecting any physical intrusion attempt towards the device enclosure or the signal cabling. The second layer of security is based on protection of the Ethernet signal itself but also on the intelligence of the link receiver to react on unusual condition changes between the link pairs.
A very good application example can be found on public IP camera installations in which the equipment is prone to various physical security risks. A non-secured Ethernet device can easily make the whole network vulnerable for hacking and predispose it for non-approved operations.
Secured against network intrusion
Should the Teleste Secured IP Link detect any unauthorized operation the protection mechanism shall shield the LAN network access by an automatic link shutdown at receiver side (link master). The system administrator shall be made aware of the security alarm over known interfaces. The administrator can remotely access the receiver unit for better diagnostics. Once the security breach attempt has been cleared the link operation can be again remotely restored and all alarms can be cleared.
The access to the link management is only present at the receiver unit. The remote transmitter unit does not have any local management interface but there is an in-band management channel in place between the transmitter and receiver unit. Both the payload traffic and management traffic are encrypted. The link units can be configured either with an individual or a shared PSK key.
Furthermore the communication is secured by a Teleste proprietary signaling yet allowing a transparent Gigabit Ethernet connectivity between the connected devices. And finally, the transmission distances are hardly not causing any system limitations as long as appropriate optical SFP transceivers has been selected.
Designed for extreme environments
Teleste’s Secured IP Link is designed for reliable operation in 24/7 use with wide operating temperature range from -34°C to +74°C. Thanks to changeable SFP transceivers the link supports various networking and cabling requirements including both optical and CAT media.
The Secure IP Link consists of two units. The receiver unit operates as a link master and it is typically placed in centralized and controlled locations serving the customer LAN. Accordingly the compact transmitter unit can be placed as for example inside an IP camera housing which integrity can be monitored. The link receiver unit is compatible with Teleste CFO series mechanics. Should there be any installed CFO rack deployments available, the platform offers an easy path for a secure IP system migration.
Due to usage of cryptography the link offering is based on two series;
* Fully featured link solution for EU sales
* Link without cryptography for non-EU sales
